Senior Data Integration Engineer

The Opportunity

This Senior Data Integration Engineer role is part of the Group Functions Technology Actuarial and Reinsurance Data and Systems team.  The successful candidate would lead a team of highly skilled data integration professionals, ensure business needs are well understood and satisfied following industry best practices around the design and governance of efficient, robust, scalable data integration processes and solutions.

The Senior Data Integration Engineer is responsible for the timely design, development & implementation of all data integration activities which support business intelligence, analytics & MIS reporting platforms & applications for Manulife’s actuarial and reinsurance lines of business.  This involves managing complex business requirements with multiple data dependencies, resource constraints, and competing business priorities that support the global Actuarial business team and our IT partners across Manulife.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates a team of developers, including the design, development, testing and deployment though the test environments and into Production following a defined change management process.

  • Maintain high quality, scalable data integration solutions.

  • Participate in quarterly project and maintenance and enhancement delivery.

  • Supports rapid iteration and development.

  • Translate business requirements into technical design and source to target mapping specifications.

  • Works closely with Actuarial Data Scientists, AXIS Modelers, BI developers, QA team, Infrastructure and Operations teams and the global IT teams.

  • Experience initializing and managing cloud platforms: AWS, Azure etc.,

  • Coach teammates at lower levels,

  • Contributes data integration designs and code across the three Actuarial regions, including: Canada, US and Asia.

What we are looking for

  • 5 - 10 years BI/DW industry experience with SDLC methodologies around waterfall, rapid, agile, etc.,

  • Strong understanding of BI/DW tooling (i.e., Informatica, SQL, DevOps, Microsoft SQL, SQL Server Mgmt Studio, etc.)

  • Experience in the Insurance Industry.

  • Experience in building & managing a small to medium technical team (<10 staff),

  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience working in a cross-matrix organization & excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical & leadership skills in a complex & changing business environment,

Salary range is expected to be between

$94,220.00 CAD - $174,980.00 CAD
