We love our company - and our environment. Every day, we work on the latest technologies to enhance people's lives.
Let’s turn visions into reality. At Bosch Transmission Technology, we shape the future by inventing high-quality thin metal technologies that spark enthusiasm. Bosch Transmission Technology is world’s leading provider of Pushbelts for the continuously variable transmission (CVT), however our areas of activity are every bit as diverse as our outstanding colleagues. Their creativity is the key to innovation. Our responsibility goes far beyond ‘business’. We’re independent of stock markets and bound to the purpose of the Robert Bosch Foundation; our success directly benefits society, the environment, and future generations. Bosch is a rather special company. Our promise to our associates is rock-solid: we grow together, we enjoy our work, and we inspire each other. Do you want to help to shape beneficial solutions for our future?

The Role
🚀 The Data Driven Engineering team from Bosch Transmission Technology is looking for an enthusiastic intern!
Licensing pre-trained vision models and investing in specialized hardware incur significant ongoing costs, especially on the E-Stack production line. This internship assignment aims to assess if these investments are necessary by evaluating the potential of self-trained vision models and low-cost hardware solutions. The outcome will inform whether existing vision implementations can be refactored to adopt a cost-effective, on-premises approach, thereby enhancing production efficiency and reducing expenses.
🛠️ Your Tasks
Conduct an in-depth evaluation of current pre-trained models to map alternative opportunities for in-house development;
Work closely with Shopfloor workers to define inspection criteria and engage with Data Scientists to benchmark model performance;
Develop and test a prototype of a vision inspection application that integrates self-trained models and meets software standards;
Prepare comprehensive documentation detailing methodologies, test outcomes, and a cost-benefit analysis;
Develop a detailed implementation roadmap for the scalable rollout of vision inspections.
🎓 What You Bring:
Experience with machine learning and computer vision techniques;
Familiarity with computer vision frameworks (e.g., OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch);
Knowledge of software development, including prototyping and API integration;
Basic understanding of hardware used in vision inspection and sensor integration;
🌟 What distinguishes you:
Experience with pre-trained models such as Halcon or YOLO.
Experience with low-cost hardware solutions (e.g., GoPro).
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Insight into digital transformation and production processes in the manufacturing industry.
