Organizational Overview:

Synchrony's Risk Team is a dynamic and innovative team dedicated to providing oversight as 2nd Line of Defense. Our Risk organization consists of 4 pillars: Compliance, Credit & Financial Risk, Enterprise Risk and Operational Risk. Each of the pillars plays a vital role in managing Risk and supports the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues, and challenge. This role is aligned to the Enterprise Risk Analytics team supporting analytics requests from Compliance, Enterprise Risk, and Operational Risk. It requires a high level of expertise with data & analytics and minimal technical supervision to effectively contribute to projects.

Role Summary/Purpose:

The AVP, Enterprise Risk Analytics will be primarily responsible for supporting Ombuds and Risk Testing teams with reporting and analytics needs. This individual will lead this analytics process in collaboration with VP and SVP leaders from all sites in a dynamic and innovative culture leveraging advanced analytics. The role will report into the Enterprise Risk Analytics Team in India, which rolls up into Synchrony Financial India.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead, collaborate, manage, communicate, and influence data driven solutions and results primarily with the Ombuds team, but may support the other analytics pillars such as Risk Testing
  • Develop and maintain reporting on Risk Appetite Statement for Enterprise Risk Management team
  • Support Risk L&D analytics as needed
  • Analyze complex data sets from a variety of data sources, and develop full-file testing and monitoring to identify and propose solutions for emerging risks
  • Collaborate and engage with all levels of management including Senior Leaders across all sites to drive analytics-based process improvements, insights, thought leadership and actions.
  • Provide thought leadership and contribute to establishing standardized Enterprise Risk Analytics process; assist with developing policies, procedures for Enterprise Risk Analytics and provide guidance on strengthening governance across team
  • Problem solve through analytics to bring value add efficiencies to our customers that include solutions involving automation, visualization, and analytical insight
  • Innovate data driven solutions independently with enterprise-wide customers across both the first and second lines of defense by leveraging the latest analytical tools and technologies; identify areas of improvement across business processes using data.
  • Engage in storytelling with the data, deliver insights & recommendations to leadership for data-driven decision making; monitor KPIs and performance metrics to evaluate ongoing risk based programs/assessments.
  • Support analytics needs in other Risk pillars including Enterprise Risk and Operational Risk with ad hoc analytics
  • Mentor junior team members on topics related to analytics; drive adoption of best practices on the same.
  • Participate in the Risk Engagement Strategy process that will develop and drive improvements across the Risk Team.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any stream with 4+ Years of experience
  • 4+ years’ hands-on experience with one or more data analytics tools including Python, R, SAS, and SQL, SPARK
  • 2+ years’ hands-on experience with Tableau or similar Visual Analytics tool such as SAS VIYA
  • Strong written/oral communication skills

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related or Business field.
  • Experience in consumer credit/risk analytics role
  • Experience managing multiple Stakeholders and while prioritizing various initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to think beyond raw data and understand the underlying business context and sense potential analytics opportunities
  • Experience developing advanced data visualizations and presentations with Tableau or other Visual Analytics tool
  • Exposure to R, Python and Machine learning tools
  • Commercially effective and collaborative across teams and functions
  • Intermediate EXCEL skill set
  • Proven ability to deliver Analytical solutions for Business problems

Work Timings:

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
