In this role, you’ll proactively pursue opportunities to use data to support business analytics, identifying ways to connect data from multiple technology- stacks such as Salesforce, In-Product, and Financial metrics. You’ll create intuitive datasets and data dictionaries for business users, find efficiencies in data flows, and work with central technology to speed up the delivery of business intelligence objects. Collaborating with a reporting specialist, you’ll ensure data is structured to enable visually stunning and explanatory dashboards. Additionally, you’ll engage with central technology teams to implement new tools that improve data accessibility and facilitate self-service data exploration

Join Pearson’s Higher Education Data and Reporting CoE as a Data Analyst 

Role Overview: In this role, you’ll proactively pursue opportunities to use data to support business analytics, identifying ways to connect data from multiple tech stacks such as Salesforce, In-Product, and Financial metrics. You’ll create intuitive datasets and data dictionaries for business users, find efficiencies in data flows, and work with central technology to speed up the delivery of business intelligence objects. Collaborating with a reporting specialist, you’ll ensure data is structured to enable visually stunning and explanatory dashboards. Additionally, you’ll engage with central technology teams to implement new tools that improve data accessibility and facilitate self-service data exploration. 

This role reports to the Director of Data and Reporting. 

Responsibilities: 

Contribute to Data Related Efforts: 

  • Work efficiently and effectively to deliver high-value data analysis and datasets in priority order. 

Data Analysis and Dataset Delivery: 

  • Engage with stakeholders to understand data analysis requirements and business value. 
  • Conduct data analysis to meet requirements. 
  • Build/scale datasets to support the reporting team with their reports and dashboards. 
  • Maintain datasets as needed. 

Analyze Data & Datasets: 

  • Investigate existing datasets, making recommendations on where there are opportunities and deficiencies. 
  • Research best practices and industry standards to explain ‘art of the possible,’ ensuring we solution and scale correctly. 

Maintaining Standards: 

  • Ensure a consistent high standard for dataset creation and data analysis conducted by the Data & Reporting COE. 

Skills Needed: 

Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate should have 3+ years of experience in handling data, including data analysis and dataset creation. 

Behavior: 

  • The candidate must exhibit a curiosity for data, coupled with the ability to solve intricate problems. Their engagement with business stakeholders and the technology teams ensures a high value in delivered work. The candidate must be able to present clearly to stakeholders, including senior leadership. 

Tools: 

  • Knowledge of the following is preferred: Big Query, Snowflake, Python, Tableau, MS Power Query, and Oracle BI. 

Education Industry: 

  • Understanding the unique challenges and dynamics of the education industry is advantageous. Examples include knowledge of student enrolment, academic performance metrics, and compliance reporting.
