Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. ​​Within Azure Data, the Microsoft Fabric platform team builds and maintains the operating system and provides customers a unified data stack to run an entire data estate. The platform provides a unified experience, unified governance, enables a unified business model and a unified architecture. ​ 

​​The Fabric Release & Deployments team is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) with a strong background in release management, operations, and program delivery to lead mission-critical initiatives supporting the Microsoft Fabric platform. 
This role is ideal for individuals who combine technical program leadership, operational excellence, and a deep commitment to customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for driving complex programs such as Ready-to-Deploy quality initiatives, global cluster buildouts, and incident response readiness, all with a focus on delivering high-quality, reliable, and scalable releases. 
We are looking for candidates who are highly collaborative, data-driven, and automation-focused—with strong experience using AI tools and prompt engineering to improve processes and solve operational challenges.

Responsibilities

​​• Proven ability to independently lead cross-functional programs and deliver results in complex environments. 
• Partners with others (e.g., Data Science, Software and Hardware Engineering) to collect performance metrics (e.g., Key Performance Indicators [KPIs] such as usage, quality speed, and cost), monitor and report on progress (e.g., business reviews), and derive insights that lead to productive courses of action to improve development, iteration, and implementation of a group of features or feature areas (e.g., product, service).  
• Collaborates with others to track, coordinate, and communicate end-to-end project schedules (e.g., epics, sprint/semester plans, milestones, timelines, releases) for a group of features or feature areas (e.g., product, service). Helps monitor processes and hold stakeholders accountable for following the established schedule and processes. Helps track and manage dependencies to enable cohesive, connected user scenarios and to avoid issues and mitigate risks. Begins to make adjustments or course corrections when projects are not aligned to schedules or goals. 
• Partners with the engineering team to contribute, prioritize, and deliver on the roadmap for a group of features or feature areas (e.g., product, service), with minimal supervision. Learns the value proposition for the group of features or feature areas and answers technical questions of the group of features or feature areas they own. 
• Experience using AI tools and large language models (LLMs), including strong prompt engineering skills, to solve real-world problems and drive operational efficiency. 
• Proficiency with Agile methodologies, CI/CD processes, version control systems (e.g., Git), and Azure DevOps.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications 

​​Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years' experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience. 
1+ year(s) of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: 

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Preferred/Additional Qualifications 

​​Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience. 
4+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects. 
1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).​
