Director of Engineering - Growth

Happening is hiring a Director of Engineering for Growth to help us accelerate user acquisition, activation, engagement, and retention at scale. You’ll lead the technical strategy and execution of one of our highest-leverage areas, partnering closely with product, design, data, and commercial teams.

We’re building a world-class Growth function to power Superbet’s next stage of expansion. This role will be foundational in turning ideas into scalable systems, experiments into outcomes, and teams into a durable engine of growth across Europe and LATAM.  

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own the Engineering Strategy for Growth: Set and drive the technical vision for user growth, aligning deeply with our product and business goals.
  • Measure and Optimize: Define and track KPIs that link directly to player and revenue growth. Utilize data analysis, A/B testing, and experimentation to identify growth opportunities, optimize conversion rates, and enhance the overall user experience.
  • Drive Impact Across the Funnel: From onboarding and engagement to churn prevention and monetization—build the systems, products, and experimentation capabilities that move the numbers.
  • Partner Cross-Functionally: Align with product, data science, CRM, design, and commercial to define high-impact work and ensure teams have clarity, focus, and momentum.
  • Build Scalable Growth Platforms: Oversee development and integration of platforms like segmentation, experimentation, personalization, and automation—critical enablers of our future growth.
  • Lead & Scale a High-Performing Team: Grow and manage 2-4+ Engineering Managers and 10-20+ engineers, growing technical leadership and engineering excellence across squads.

What we’re looking for:

    1. Analytical & Outcome-Driven – Proven track record of making data-informed decisions and taking full ownership of business outcomes.
    2. Growth Leadership & Expertise – Deep understanding of growth tactics & systems, experimentation frameworks, A/B testing, and metrics-driven product development.
    3. Cross-Functional Collaboration at Scale – Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with experience aligning and delivering across 6+ cross-functional teams/partners.

 What You Bring 

    • 10+ years in engineering with 5 years with People Management roles.
    • 2+ years in growth, experimentation, or innovation-focused leadership roles.
    • A history of building and scaling growth engineering orgs—from hiring and team design to technical systems and delivery culture.
    • Deep understanding of experimentation systems, funnel optimization, and lifecycle growth loops.
    • Experience building and shipping high-scale platforms across markets and products.
    • Strong grasp of tech stacks (e.g., JS/TS, Python, Go, SQL, experimentation tooling, ML pipelines).
    • Experience managing teams across multiple geographies
    • Bonus: Experience with high-growth environments.
    • Bonus: Knowledge of Machine Learning or AI-driven growth solutions.
