Get to Know the Team

The Metrics platform team is a relatively new team within Grab's Data Technology organization, today we have a distributed team with members in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand and soon Malaysia.. As our name suggests, we are building a central platform for metrics where Grabbers from every part of Grab can access high quality, reliable and metrics in one place.

Get to Know the Role 

As an intern in the Metrics Platform team, you will perform a software and data engineering role. You will be a member of the team to design Grab's Metrics platform and will provide support for Grabbers who are users of the Metrics Platform, to to help those that aren't users yet to on-board onto our platform. You will report to the Senior Data Engineering Manager. This is a paid internship role and is based onsite in Petaling Jaya.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• You will collaborate with and be mentored by engineers to develop solutions for metric platforms, including storage, serving, metadata, engineering, testing, and certification.
• You will work with senior engineers and other teams to integrate systems with the metrics platform, ensuring access to high-quality metrics.
• You will help expand platform coverage by collaborating with metrics publishers and consumers, and oversee maintenance and optimization to ensure metrics services.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Only for candidates who are available to start in July 2025.
• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, data science, analytics, or related fields.
• Experience with programming languages like Go, Python, Scala, or Java.
• You have knowledge on data engineering and large-scale data systems.
• Exposure to data modeling, extract, load, transform processes, and data warehousing concepts.
• Hands-on experience with big data technologies like Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow, and streaming with Apache Flink is advantageous; knowledge of cloud-based platforms like AWS is valued.
