Regulatory Affairs Business Data Architect

As a Business Systems Data Architect, you will collaborate closely with the Regulatory team to drive the architectural vision for regulatory data and its consumption and usage. This role requires a deep understanding of modern data architectures, cloud technologies, and knowledge of AI/ML frameworks. 

You will play a critical role in shaping and overseeing the Regulatory data architecture utilising existing cloud data technologies, data pipelines, the management of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data and data quality which is critical to the success of GSK’s AI initiatives.

In this role you will

  • Provide oversight and advice to Architects, Data Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and Data Engineers who are designing and implementing data capabilities, integration solutions, and data models.
  • Establish and enforce data governance, data quality, access, storage, reference data, master data, integration, interoperability, data modelling, and data security standards for GSK regulatory domain. 
  • Design Data products, (e.g., clinical trial registry, adverse events) with well-formed APIs and metadata, and storage designs across layers (e.g., bronze, silver, gold) of the Data platform, maintaining scalability, performance and alignment with organisational objectives. 
  • Promote best practices for interoperability, integration, and data exchange to support the seamless flow and mapping of data and processes across systems (e.g., from preclinical, clinical trials, regulatory submission).  
  • Define, review, and maintain data architectures, ensuring compliance with development, security, and infrastructure standards (e.g. understanding of FAIR data principles). 
  • Design data architectures capable of processing large volumes of data and supporting future growth, enabling AI and data science teams to work with complex datasets.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: 

  • In-depth expertise in designing, documenting and maintaining data assets, with emphasis on data mesh, data products and cloud data platforms particularly with Azure, Databrick and Denodo.
  • Experience with cloud data management, integration, and data platform analytics and machine learning. 
  • Knowledge and experience in RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) systems, knowledge graphs (e.g. Stardog, Neo4j), and document vector store technologies. 
  • Understanding of MDM, including design and implementing data integration flows between MDM and other systems. 
  • Use of tools like Erwin Data Modeler to create and maintain the data architecture of an organization, including data models, data flows, and data standards. 
  • Experience of data governance initiatives, working with business data glossary and Collibra data governance centre.  

 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Educated to degree level, or undergraduate level or equivalent experience in IT.
  • Certifications: TOGAF or BCS Certification (desirable).
