Data Scientist II, Analytics

Introduction to team:

The Traveler Engagement and Loyalty (TEaL) Analytics team sits within the Traveler & Marketing Analytics team, working on tackling sophisticated analytical and business problems with a focus on statistics and data analytics. In this role, your keen interest in marketing analytics will help us solve tough problems and influence positive change.

You will be responsible for devising, developing and maintaining methods and tools to help optimize our marketing campaigns and capital allocation process. This could involve designing and analyzing A/B tests, developing testing methodologies to gather insight from a marketing test, or using machine learning methods to help predict returns where testing is not possible.

You will work closely with other highly-skilled data scientists, and partner with the Traveler Engagement and Loyalty organization, as well as colleagues across Finance and Product.

Make an Impact:

If you’re as excited as we are about using data to drive positive change and build an outstanding customer experience, this may be the role for you!

We are looking for a hardworking, independent, and driven Data Scientist II to join the CRM Testing and Analytics team to support the Traveler Engagement and Loyalty (TEaL) organization.  You will provide powerful insights that shape the way we market, engage and incentivize our traveler base. This is a great opportunity to join a fun, exciting, data driven, and customer centric company.

As an Individual Contributor you will partner closely with your stakeholders and contribute to the improvement of many different areas within CRM including: the set-up and analysis of A/B tests, exploratory deep dives into traveler behavior, and devising novel frameworks and methods to test when traditional methods are not possible. You will also have the opportunity to produce and deliver presentations to influence the thinking of senior leadership in the TEaL organization.

In this role, you will:

  • Apply your knowledge of SQL, Python or R on a daily basis

  • Provide thought leadership on testing frameworks, analyze test results, and recommend testing opportunities.

  • Use your creativity and commercial acumen to translate business problems into structured analytical questions, and choose the most appropriate methodologies to answer these questions

  • Constantly assess the status quo, find and discuss opportunities for optimization, simplification and acceleration of current processes

  • Clearly and confidently articulate decision-making rationale, solutions, methodologies and frameworks to team members and both technical and non-technical partners

  • Pick analytically valid approaches, appropriate in terms of level of effort, favoring iterative delivery that tackle the objective, not the ask

  • Prioritize multiple tasks and workstreams simultaneously and own projects end to end

Experience and qualifications:

  • 2+ years of professional experience in data science, analytics, or a related quantitative field, ideally focused on marketing, CRM, or customer engagement.

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or Engineering is required; a Master's is a strong plus.

  • Proficient in SQL and experienced with one or more of Python, R, or PySpark for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.

  • Solid understanding of statistical methods, including A/B testing, experimental design, and causal inference techniques.

  • Proven ability to translate complex data into clear business insights, and to tell compelling data stories that drive decision-making.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain methodologies and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and can-do attitude

  • Display strong domain knowledge, business acumen and critical reasoning skills
