What You will Be Doing 

 

As the Sr. Data Scientist, Fraud Analytics, you will be responsible for Transaction Monitoring and contributing to the management of CIBC’s on-going fraud exposure through the proactive and assigned analysis, development, maintenance and deployment of data-driven fraud mitigation algorithms. You will required to conduct predictive modeling which include complex statistical concepts/theories and predictions including optimization, clustering, neural nets, logistic regression, multiple decision trees, sampling, and Bayesian estimation. The analysis and modeling may require creative thinking to overcome limitations in data availability and data quality. As well, you will provide leadership and direction to junior employees within the department, and project support in the capacity of subject matter expert related to transaction monitoring systems. You will also proactively lead and conduct/identify business problems where analytical techniques can be effectively applied to achieve core business objectives. Lead and conduct feasibility studies and analysis to clearly depict possible fraud mitigation rule options and recommended courses of action.

How You will Succeed 

  • Analytical Thinking – Improve fraud monitoring by creatively respond to fraud trends and mitigate risk surrounding new operational processes. Guide strategy by providing evidence based analytical solutions. Conduct complex feasibility studies and cost/benefit analysis to clearly depict fraud mitigation rule options and recommended courses of action.  

  • Data Management – Creation and maintenance of computer programs (ex: SAS, SQL, Python) to access a decision support data repository. Database management/querying, and computer programming/software expertise. 

  • Communication Skills –  Excellent verbal and writing skills to effectively articulate ideas and opinions that involve analysis, interpretation, and assessment. 

 

Who You Are 

  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You are confident in your ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way. You have experience using SQL, SAS EG, SAS Miner, Tableau and/or Python.  

  • You have a degree/diploma in an Analytics/Statistics/Computers Based discipline. Master’s level degree would be an asset. 

  • You love to learn. You are passionate about growing your knowledge, and you know that there is no limit to what you can achieve. You are current in new modeling and analytical techniques and constantly seek to improve your knowledge in this field. 

  • You look beyond the moment. You make decisions and take actions that will make a difference today and tomorrow. You proactively seek new opportunities to define what is possible. You are curious and proactive; you constantly offer innovative solutions based on sound analysis.
