The Data Architect is a member of the Enterprise Architecture team working under the direction of Marketing Sales & Services Architects. The focus of the Data Architect will be the definition and maintenance of processes, tools, and information that will assist architects to find opportunities in the Information domain of architecture to shape Ford’s digital business strategy across the enterprise. Key initiative for this team member will be the Dealer 360 program at Ford.

In this position...
Collaborate directly with business partners, architecture teams, and development teams to identify best-fit IT applications and AI solutions to drive efficiency, quality, and accuracy for end-users.

What you'll do...
 

  • Lead efforts in building out the Dealer domain in the Data Warehouse
  • Define information architecture strategy, processes and methods for architecture community.
  • Lead definition and maintenance of Enterprise Data Model, in partnership with Global Data Insight & Analytics (GDI&A ) team.
  • Work with the architecture community, product teams, and our GDI&A team to digitize information models into a central architecture repository for analysis across the portfolio.
  • Evolve information architecture frameworks to support business goals for data availability, usability and security and IT goals for efficient use of resources.
  • Analyze data assets across the portfolio in relation to processes, products, and capabilities to uncover patterns that can be digitized into dashboards for finding opportunities for investment.
  • Work with our GDI&A team to identify and prioritize opportunities in the portfolio for advanced data capabilities like MDM, Data Quality, Meta Data Management, Data Stewardship, etc.
  • Promote data standards and data management capabilities to the architecture community.
  • Identify areas where changes in data management practices can add value to the business and improve IT efficiency.
  • Guide architects, application development teams and systems vendors to achieve the Information strategy & vision.
  • Comply with company Information Security Policy and Procedures.
  • Define and evolve key information architecture artifacts

You'll have...
 

  • Education: Bachelor`s degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or other information technology-oriented major is a must; an MBA is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience as an Information and Data Architect, and at least 10 years of experience in the IT industry. Must be able to demonstrate a solid background in data modeling, canonical modeling, metadata management, data governance, and data flow analysis.
  • Experience with TOGAF, data modeling, canonical modeling, metadata management, data governance, and data flow analysis
  • Skills/Abilities: Candidate should be able to use PowerDesigner to model data architectures (Hopex a plus). Candidate needs the ability to provide thought leadership in Information Architecture. Candidate must be able to influence others, demonstrate pier leadership skills, and work as part of a team. 
  • Candidate must be self-motivated. Candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, must be able to facilitate and work collaboratively on analysis and design, and must be able to instruct and mentor others. The Information Architect is an individual contributor role and will work closely with other architects and IT team members to complete their duties.
  • Master Data Management (MDM) experience is a plus.
