As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll take on a hybrid role—blending deep technical expertise with team leadership. You’ll design and maintain high-performance data solutions, lead a small team of data engineers, and act as a key liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your work will help shape efficient data systems while fostering a collaborative and scalable team culture.


Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL), SSIS, and SSAS.
  • Develop data models and create Power BI visualizations to meet business needs.
  • Ensure high performance, quality, and consistency across all data processes.
  • Work across both legacy codebases and modern data solutions.
  • Use Git for version control and contribute to a mature, evolving code base.
  • Apply VB.NET and/or C# as needed to support existing systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot systems using tools like DataDog.
  • Communicate effectively with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
  • Guide and support a small data team in weekly sprint cycles and ticket delivery.
  • Run daily standups and lead weekly Data Huddles to align and motivate the team.
  • Triage issues, manage escalations, and prioritize workload across stakeholders.
  • Promote shared documentation practices and continuous process improvements.
  • Coach team members, monitor performance using Jira, and address bottlenecks.
  • Foster growth through mentorship, training, and documentation in Confluence.
  • Act as a primary point of contact between data, development, and support teams.

     
Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and data engineering environments.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, and Power BI.
  • Familiarity with Git for version control and DataDog (or similar tools) for monitoring.
  • Experience working with VB.NET and/or C#.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage or mentor small technical teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset with sound judgement and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken), with the ability to work across both technical and business teams.
