We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Engineer II to join our team and play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest standards of quality for our AI-driven platform. You'll be a master of quality techniques, ensuring the timely delivery of robust and reliable software. Your expertise will be instrumental in understanding complex system interactions and dependencies, ensuring engineers account for them in their design and testing of AI features.
Responsibilities:
Manually test and troubleshoot new features across various dimensions, including systems integration, GUI, compatibility, user acceptance testing, functionality, database, and regression, with a specific focus on AI-powered features and their unique quality challenges.
Develop and maintain automated test code using tools like Java, Python, and Selenium, applying advanced test automation design and techniques, including those specific to AI features and systems.
Support existing features by performing regression testing when bugs are resolved, including regression testing of AI-based features.
Perform in-depth analysis, research, and troubleshooting of software defects, contributing to detailed defect and anomaly documentation.
Build, maintain, and enhance test artifacts to ensure efficient reuse by the Test Engineering team, including development of test data and tools for AI feature testing.
Collaborate with agile team members to define and review acceptance criteria, with a specific focus on ensuring the quality of AI-driven functionality.
Participate in critical release activities across all platforms.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all work products.
Apply advanced software testing design techniques.
Systematically analyze requirements to provide effective input into engineering activities, with a focus on AI-related requirements and testability.
Effectively identify and resolve root causes of leaked defects.
Lead or participate in release management activities.
Contribute to software performance analysis and system tuning.
Build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
Troubleshoot, investigate, and diagnose incidents using a combination of tracing, alerting and log analysis.
Contribute to Appian's long-term documentation through publishing relevant, high-quality content to Engineering's technical documentation site.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
4+ years of relevant experience in quality, testing, performance, or software engineering.
Proven experience with both manual and automated testing.
Experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment.
Proficiency in Python.
Experience with web, Android, and iOS platform testing.
Understanding of AI concepts and a willingness to learn AI testing methodologies, including experience with evaluating AI feature performance.
Preferred Experience:
Experience testing AI and machine learning applications, including experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI.
Familiarity with AI cloud tools and ML quality metrics.
Experience with accessibility testing.
