Data Software Engineer I

The Data Software Engineer I contributes to the decision making process within the organization by understanding, extracting, transforming & storing relevant data sets and assisting in the corresponding analysis, and by designing, developing, testing and delivering functioning software that supports and automates those activities.  They will work with teammates to create valuable analyses and data tools for internal and external customers. The Data Software Engineer I applies principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, mathematical analysis, and systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

§  Understand, extract, transform, store & analyze relevant data sets

§  Write SQL queries to produce data sets to be used in statistical and data mining models

§  Help troubleshoot field and other issues by providing and interpreting data

§  Design, develop, maintain, improve, test, and release software to improve analysis and business process efforts

§  Develop, maintain and use diagnostics to improve data processes and data health/quality

§  Write and execute test plans

§  Assist in applying data mining techniques to analyze product, system and business performance to provide reports and forecasts

§  Analyze, report, and present findings on behavior trends

§  Produce and evaluate performance metrics utilized by the company

§  Understand and exhibit behavior in alignment with Data and Software Best Practices

§  Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

§  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics or equivalent experience in a related field

§  0-3 years of experience working in a similar role

§  A track record of strong mathematical maturity

§  Some experience in Relational Database Systems and complex SQL queries

§  Programming experience in Python, Node.js, or similar languages

§  Experience developing in the Linux environment

§  Some experience in at least one BI reporting tool is a plus

§  Practical understanding of computer science fundamentals

§  Ability to support software integration as well as system and acceptance testing
