The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a Data Science Lead (Senior) who will be responsible for guiding data science initiatives within USSTRATCOM. They will lead a team of data scientists and analysts to leverage advanced analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence to support strategic decision-making and enhance operational effectiveness.
The work location for this position is Omaha, Nebraska. The position is contingent upon award of the United States Strategic Command SCITLS contract.
Responsibilities:
Data Science Lead, Senior:
Architects and builds automated ML pipelines using tools such as CI/CD, orchestrating data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring across various environments
Designs and manages the underlying infrastructure for ML operations, including cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and data storage solutions
Communicates command priorities; conducts professional development, performance management, salary determinations and hiring decisions of team members
Establishes comprehensive monitoring systems to track model performance metrics in real time, identify potential issues, and trigger alerts for necessary interventions
Partners with data science teams to translate research prototypes into production-ready models, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems
Leads and mentors a team of MLOps engineers, providing technical guidance and best practices for efficient ML operations
Implements policies and procedures to ensure responsible AI development, including data quality checks, bias detection, and version control
Analyzes and optimizes ML model performance and resource utilization to maintain cost-effectiveness in production
Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high-impact assignments
Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments
May supervise others
Qualifications:
Top Secret with SCI Eligibility
Bachelors or Masters in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or related field
7+ years of experience in data science or related field, with a proven track record in a leadership role
Required 8140 Cert within 6 months from Start date: 661 - Intermediate; Security+; OR Applicable degree ABET accredited/CAE designated; OR Training
AND
Additional Cert: N/A
Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL), machine learning frameworks, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on quantitative methodologies and statistical analysis.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex data-driven insights to non-technical audiences.
