Job Description

Stamford: 

At NBC Sports Headquarters in Stamford, CT, you’ll have access to great perks and amenities including free shuttle service to/from the Metro North Stamford train station and the office, as well as discounted admission to Chelsea Piers Athletic Club. 

 

Academic Year Recruitment Timeline:   

April 21 – May 9: Applications Open (may close early due to applicant volume)  

Early May – Mid June: First round video interviews   

Mid June – Mid July: Second round interviews  

Throughout July: Selected candidates receive offers  

  

Academic Year Internship Program: 

  • Applications Close: May 9th at 11:59pm ET. Pro Tip: Submit your application as soon as possible – applications could close earlier due to applicant volume!  
  • Program Dates: September 15, 2025 – April 17, 2026 
  • Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.  We will do our best to accommodate course schedules. 
  • Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from Stamford, CT.

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to: 
  

  • NBC Sports Consumer Insights: The NBC Sports Consumer Insights team gives the voice of the fan a seat at the table where key business decisions are made. Part of the Decision Sciences organization, the Consumer Insights team collaborates with key insights and analytics colleagues to bring to light the “why” behind trends and consumption habits of fans. The team supports the NBC Sports organization with best-in-class insights to bring the best sports product to fans. The intern will have a unique opportunity to contribute to our team supporting the launch of NBC’s rights with NBA along with other major properties such as the NFL and College Football. The internship will provide the opportunity to learn about the sports media landscape, how consumer insights support the organization across platforms and departments, while getting hands on experience throughout the consumer insights process to support the organization. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about sports. 

 

  • Broadcast Entertainment & Sports Content Analytics: The Decision Sciences Content Analytics team acts as the main source of data and insights on all things Entertainment and Sports, both on Linear TV and Peacock, providing program performance tracking, audience demographics, forecasting, business and brand strategy, portfolio optimization, and all forms of research-based guidance. The team works closely with many groups across the business including marketing, programming, production, finance, and ad sales. An intern supporting our group will be an integral part of how we report on performance data for all our programs and sports properties to our key stakeholders and will utilize multiple data management and analytics tools in their day-to-day. The internship will offer in-depth training on TV ratings and audience research, including involvement in various cross-platform projects, and ownership over various weekly and daily reporting. 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: 

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2025 through April 2026). December 2025 graduates are not eligible for our 2025-2026 Academic Year Internship Program. 
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits). 
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States. 
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 15, 2025 – April 17, 2026.  
  • Must be willing to work in Stamford, CT. 

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.  

NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.   

Desired Characteristics: 

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred. 
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. 
  • Interest in learning and conducting custom market research. 
  • Interest in sports and the sports media business. 
  • Experience with data storytelling/data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) a plus. 
  • Experience with statistical programming languages (R, Python, etc.) a plus. 
  • Knowledge of TV Ratings, Nielsen, or data visualization tools like Tableau preferred. 
  • Affinity for numbers & ability to digest large data sets - especially with ratings and viewership data. 

 

The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $30.00. 

The hourly rate for graduate student interns is $35.00.
