Manager, Credit Models

What’s the role?

You'll be a trusted expert ensuring the integrity and accuracy of credit risk models. As part of Westpac’s Model Risk team, you’ll dive deep into retail and non-retail credit risk models, including A-IRB (PD/EAD/LGD), scorecards, provisioning, and stress testing. Your job? Validate and challenge these models to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and business needs. You’ll translate complex data into clear, actionable insights, shaping smarter risk decisions. This full-time Sydney-based role gives you the power to challenge credit risk models at scale.

What do I need?

  • Proficiency in SAS, R, Python, SQL, and Excel, with expertise in data analytics, statistical modelling, and visualisation.
  • A strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science, with specialised experience in credit risk modelling and validation.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of translating complex concepts into clear, actionable insights.
  • A strategic mindset focused on continuous improvement, with a commitment to refining models, processes, and analytical approaches.
  • Preferred experience across different credit risk model types.
