Principal Engineer – Analytics, Reporting & BI Cybersecurity

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Principal Engineer to lead the Analytics, Reporting, and Business Intelligence (BI) initiatives for our Cybersecurity organization. This role will be responsible for shaping and executing the technical strategy, architecture, and delivery of analytics and BI solutions that provide actionable insights into our cybersecurity landscape. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technologist with strong experience in cloud-based data platforms, visualization tools, and reporting frameworks, combined with a deep understanding of cybersecurity data domains.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

•            - Define and evolve the technical vision and architecture for analytics, BI, and reporting across Cybersecurity.

•            - Drive the roadmap for BI modernization with a focus on scalability, performance, and self-service capabilities.

•            - Partner with cybersecurity, data, and engineering leaders to align reporting solutions with business priorities.

Engineering Execution:

•            - Lead design, development, and deployment of secure, scalable, and real-time reporting solutions.

•            - Build reusable patterns, templates, and frameworks to standardize reporting and data visualization.

•            - Develop and lead proof-of-concepts (PoCs) to validate emerging technologies or solutions.

Architecture and Governance:

•            - Provide technical guidance on data architecture, data models, and analytics workflows.

•            - Enforce data quality, lineage, and governance standards in BI platforms.

•            - Enable self-service BI and empower users while ensuring compliance with security and data access policies.

Team Leadership and Mentorship:

•            - Mentor engineers across cybersecurity, data engineering, and BI teams.

•            - Set engineering best practices for coding, testing, and deploying reporting pipelines and dashboards.

•            - Drive a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

•            7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

•            Hands on experience in data engineering, BI, or analytics, including at least 3+ years in a lead or principal role

•            Proven track record architecting and delivering enterprise-grade BI and reporting solutions in a cybersecurity or regulated industry

•            Expertise in Cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure)

•            Expertise and hands on skills with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, ThoughtSpot)

•            Deep experience with Big data processing (e.g., BigQuery, Spark, SQL, Python)

•            Solid skills in data modeling, ETL frameworks, and data orchestration pipelines

•            Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, and access control in sensitive environments

Preferred Qualifications

•            Hands-on experience with security log data, cyber threat intelligence, or compliance reporting is a plus

•            Experience in cybersecurity analytics use cases (e.g., alert enrichment, risk scoring, posture reporting

•            Familiarity with natural language querying, AI-powered summarization, or augmented BI

•            Exposure to data mesh, data fabric, or federated data architectures

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
