Assistant GIS Specialist

LSA is seeking an Assistant GIS Specialist. The ideal candidate will possess a critical eye, an eagerness to learn, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. This position is responsible for performing GIS activities using Esri's ArcGIS software suite.  Specific duties include creating and publishing maps and figures, spatial data creation using editing tools, spatial analysis, development of data, maps, and apps in ArcGIS Online, configuration of field data collection forms in Field Maps and Survey123, converting KMZ, AutoCAD, or Microstation to GIS data formats, digitizing, geo-referencing, data classification and cleaning, and workflow documentation. We’re looking for a quick learner with a critical eye and a strong work ethic to join our small but busy GIS team.

This position can be hybrid or in-person at one of LSA’s offices. The candidate should live within California and be able to be physically present in-office on a mutually determined schedule.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, Environmental Studies, or certificate(s) in GIS.
  • Demonstrated GIS skills and knowledge, as well as the ability to prioritize and complete multiple complex tasks independently.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

Desirable (but not Required) Skills

  • Experience piloting drones and processing drone imagery using Drone2Map.
  • Experience with remote sensing, image processing and analysis, and/or deep learning.
  • AutoCAD and/or Microstation experience.
  • Experience coding in Arcade, JavaScript, Python, SQL, or C#. 
  • Experience with Survey123 Connect and XLSForm.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and Portal.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $49,000 to $78,000 per year. The compensation offer will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
